This year Amada celebrate 40 years of providing innovative solutions to the sheet metal industry in the UK. Our staff are justifiably proud of this achievement but are by no means resting on their laurels. 2012 sees an exciting array of innovations and projects to ensure Amada can continue to provide world class products and services to their customers in the UK, Ireland and Spain. These are exciting times at Amada and I thought it an opportune moment to share with you some of our very latest developments here at Kidderminster.
This is a significant year in Amada UK’s history for a number of reasons. It was precisely 40 years ago that Amada Co. Japan first created a UK subsidiary. Now, the old saying that ‘life begins at 40’ has great relevance as we look to underpin a very successful trading period with an intensive investment plan in support of new and existing customers alike.
Perhaps most significantly, Amada Co. are investing £5 million in an extensive redevelopment project at our UK customer facility. The refurbishment means that the existing Machine Tool Plaza will be updated to become a fully interactive Technical Centre.
The aim is to provide an even better experience for Amada customers and visitors, with an expanded machinery showroom, enhanced meeting areas, and interactive facilities for both software and tooling. Our customers will be able to enjoy the very latest in sheet metal machine technology within a welcoming and comfortable environment that is conducive to knowledge-sharing. What’s more, the renovated facility will be extremely eco-friendly, boasting minimal carbon footprint due to the installation of the latest sustainable technology in lighting, heating and insulation.
Other recent investment here at Amada has seen the release of a new look website that is updated with more news, machine information, videos and customer case studies than ever before. If you’ve not visited our online portal recently, please take a look around.
We’re also investing in staff. The Amada UK apprentice scheme now has 12 young engineers, which along with a total staff complement of 144 means we have the largest support organisation ever.
As well as providing the cause for birthday celebrations, our 40th year offers more reasons for cheer. At present, 2012 is on course to produce record UK turnover based on new products such as the FOL AJ Fibre Laser and the HD-ATC Press Brake with automatic tool setup. While at our facility in Spain, the new 30%-expanded organisation has doubled its turnover in the past 12 months. It seems more and more manufacturers are discovering the benefits of using Amada technology.
